Fort St John Public Library Free Activities

FSJPL is excited to be offering three FREE special programs this Spring Break for kids aged 2-15yrs. All of these programs require FREE pre-registration through the Library either in-person or over the phone at 250-785-3731.

Super Hero Training Day (Ages 2-6)

Thursday, March 21, 10:30-11:30am

Kids are invited to dress up or come as their alter-egos. This is an action-packed morning of skill-testing challenges—how strong, fast, brave and bold are our little superheroes?! Enthusiastic older siblings are welcome to join, tiny siblings can come to cheer the heroes on, and all participants must attend with an adult sidekick.

Pokémon Mystery Party (Ages 6-12)

Thursday, March 21, 2:00-3:30pm

Detectives and Pokémon trainers can leave their cards at home—this is an active afternoon of decoding clues, tracking down suspects and capturing Pokémon! No age exceptions.

Fortnite Battle Royale NERF Night (Ages 12-15)

Wednesday, March 20, 6:30-8:30pm

When the countdown begins, many will drop into the map…but only one player will get the Victory Royale! Participants don’t need to bring any of their own NERF supplies; just wear running shoes and get ready to compete! Parental consent form required to finalize registration. No age exceptions.

School Science Fair- March 8

Science Fair is nearly here! It is being held in the gym at Duncan Cran on Friday, March 8.

From 9:00am-11:45am, students will be presenting their projects to judges, which is a closed event.

From 12:40-2:20, participants will return to their projects so that all classes can come down to view the amazing work they have been doing! Parents and families are also welcome to come view at this time.

At 2:15pm, the participants who will be moving on to the Regional Fair at NPSS will be announced.


We are asking students to bring in their projects a little early on Wednesday, March 6. This will allow time for any last minute adjustments, or forgotten pieces to be brought in.

Duncan Cran is becoming an APPLE School

APPLE Schools (A Project Promoting healthy Living for Everyone in schools) is an innovative school-focused health promotion initiative. It improves the lives of more than 20,000 students annually in 70 schools across northern Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba by improving their healthy eating, physical activity, and mental health habits.

Duncan Cran has been selected as 1 or the first 2 schools in British Columbia to become an APPLE School.

This project will begin in September 2019 and be a 3 year commitment to Duncan Cran.

The representatives will be in Fort St John to present at the PAC meeting on Wednesday February 27 at 6pm. The presentation will be in Room 12.
