The North Peace Cultural Centre is proud to announce the third year of the successful Let’s Art Program. This after school program is offered to all children of our community free of charge and has expanded this year to include teen and senior citizens. We are very excited to be able to offer a wealth of creative options with help from funding by the Northern Health’s Imagine grant, BC Hydro’s GO fund, and the Peace Art Gallery Society.
Sessions run monthly from October to June with options for children and teenagers. The kid’s sessions will run from 3:30 to 5:00 Tuesdays and Wednesday, with 1-2 classes held at Peace Villa with some senior residents. This is a wonderful opportunity for both the seniors and kids to inspire each other through creativity. The goal of this program is to improve the social, mental and physical health of our youth and senior citizens through art and self-expression.
The Teen program will run from 3:30-5:00 on Friday afternoons and will focus on creating advanced art pieces. We hope to provide a creative outlet for teens by sharing new and exciting visual arts skills. Some of topics the students will explore are watercolour, acrylic painting, print making, including collagraph, monotype, and stencil prints, and 3D works. At the end of each session students will be taking home finished pieces that they can take pride in sharing with family and friends.
