On Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 from 6-8 pm we will be having our annual Open House. This is a time to meet your child’s teacher and hear what they will be doing this year.  We will be having a free chili on a bun dinner for all students and parents, so, please come out and meet your child’s teacher.
Â
Newsletters going wireless:
Â
In an effort to save wasted paper we will not be printing 300 newsletters every month; instead we will be posting them online on our DC website http://www.duncan.prn.bc.ca
We will also be putting a link on the Duncan Cran Face Book page. For parents that do not have internet access, please sign at the bottom of the newsletter and we will make paper copies available. Lets help save paper wastage.

Terry Fox:
Our Terry Fox run will be held on Thursday, September 26th, 2013 from 2:00-2:20. Parents are welcome to join us in the field where students and staff will walk a number of laps in memory of Terry Fox. Sponsor sheets can be collected in the office if your child would like to fund raise. A commemorative Terry Fox shirt will be given to the top fundraiser, we also have some collectable Terry buttons to be awarded to random fundraisers. If we reach our school goal of $1000.00 dollars Mr. Ranger will be dressing up in costume for the children. Help us to reach our school goal of $1000.00!
Canadian Geographic and Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers are coming to Duncan Cran!
I am very excited to say that Canadian Geographic has chosen our school to visit on their Giant Floor Map Tour. We are the first stop of the BC tour and the only school chosen in Fort St John. They will host a parent night from 6-8 on Wednesday September 25th/2013.  Come and meet the folks from Canadian Geographic!  During the day each class will have a chance to come and explore the giant map! (For new parent’s information: for the past two years in a row, our school has won the Canadian Geographic Energy Diet Challenge Top School Award! We were top school in Canada!)
Lunch:
Â
Please make sure that you send a snack and lunch each day. We do not have the ability to warm up lunches in a microwave. Thermoses are great for hot items.
Â
Lates:
Â
If your child is late please have them come to the office as soon as they arrive to school, even if they are in Kindergarten. Each morning before 9 am your child’s teacher completes attendance. Late arrivals are considered absent unless they have checked in to the office. The secretary will call families of children that are absent and we do not know the reason. If you know your child will be away please send a note to your child’s teacher. We don’t want to make extra work for our secretary, as she is very busy!!! We really appreciate your cooperation and consideration.
