Math Assessment and Practice (MAP)

Mathematics Assessment and Practice (MAP) is a tool used in classrooms to support understanding of number sense. This tool is used as part of a number sense routine in classrooms throughout the school year in grades 4 through 9.

At Duncan Cran, one of four Framework for Enhancing Student Learning (FESL) goals is numeracy. Students will develop confidence and ability to use math in real life situations by developing their number sense. The MAP tool is shown below. Each week, we will explain one part of the MAP for parents.

The two ladders on the side of the template ask for skip counting up and skip counting down. For example, starting at 800, count up by 75 (800, 875, 950, 1025, 1100, 1175) and count down by 75 (800, 725, 650, 575, 500, 425).

You can print this template to practice at home.
